Matthew Paterson is Professor in the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa. Paterson’s work focuses on the intersection of global political economy and global environmental politics. He has worked in particular on climate change politics and is currently working on the politics of carbon markets, transnational climate change governance. He has written a prize-winning book entitled Automobile Politics: Ecology and Cultural Political Economy. His most recent book (co-authored with Peter Newell) is Climate Capitalism: Global Warming and the Transformation of the Global Economy (Cambridge, 2010) and he is currently a lead author for the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Johannes Stripple is Associate Senior Lecturer in political science at Lund University, Sweden. His research interests lie at the intersection between international relations theory and global environmental politics. His research is both about what is done to mitigate the issue of climate change (e.g. making rules and policies, negotiating international treaties, constructing markets), but also about what it might entail to live and adapt in a warming world.
