Liam Mahony is the Director of Fieldview Solutions, a consulting firm which helps international institutions do better protection and conflict resolution in conflict areas. He is author of Unarmed Bodyguards: International Accompaniment for the Protection of Human Rights (Kumarian, 1997, co-author with Luis Enrique Eguren), Proactive Presence: Field Strategies for Civilian Protection (Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, 2006) and most recently Influence on the Ground: Understanding and Strengthening the Protection Impact of United Nations Human Rights Field Presences (Fieldview Solutions, 2012, co-author with Roger Nash). Formerly a Lecturer in Public and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University, Mr. Mahony is a pioneer in the theory and practice of international protection. He has worked for numerous intergovernmental and non-governmental agencies to improve their efforts to develop practical strategies for protecting civilians, including Peace Brigades International, Amnesty International, and the UN Offices for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the World Food Program, the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).
