Professor Manirakiza joined the Faculty of Law in 2003. He is an expert in international criminal and humanitarian law and has written widely on these subjects.Before coming to the University of Ottawa, heheld positionsat the University of Burundiand at Hope Universityin Kenya. Professor Manirakiza also participated in Burundi’s peace negotiations in 1999-2000 and later served on a Defence team before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (2000-2004) where he previously served as a legal intern.
