Recently posthumously rewarded US Congressional Gold Medal and an honorary citizen of Canada, the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg is renowned worldwide for his successful efforts to save the lives of tens of thousands of Jews from the Nazi persecution during the Second World War, by handing out protective Swedish passports.
